Live Action Set Extension
Roles and responsibilities: Fall 2023 | Look Development/Surfacing | Modeler | Lighting | Compositing
This image results from the fusion of a live-action background and a 3D model with intricate surface detailing. It draws inspiration from the aesthetics of the 1929 movie "Farewell To Arms." The 3D representation of elements like the chair, side tables, lamp, jug, plate, wine glasses, and chess piece is crafted using NURBS Surfaces. They are particularly well-suited for producing seamless, curved shapes, which are evident in the organic aspects of these models. The entire process, from creating the 3D models and materials to positioning the camera and illuminating the scene using ambient lighting, was executed by me.
Following the photography of the door and curtain background, I diligently synchronized the position of the real-world camera within my 3D environment. This meticulous alignment ensured a seamless composite of the images, preserving the precise proportions of my 3D model. Each item in the scene was crafted individually and then meticulously textured. The chaise chair was a bit tricky, but I successfully integrated it into the scene.
Software: Autodesk Maya(Modeling), Blender(Modeling, scene layout and camera positioning, Texturing, rendering), Photoshop(compositing).
